For parents

Set up your kid's device

Sign in a tablet, Chromebook, or old phone with one scan. Kids never type a password.

You need two things: your phone, signed in to jbq.games, and your kid's device. The kid's device doesn't need a camera.

Pair the device

  1. On your kid's device, open jbq.games in the web browser and tap Kid sign-in.
  2. It shows a QR code and a short code like K7M-42Q. Leave this screen open.
  3. On your phone, scan the QR code with the camera. Or tap Set up a kid's device on your home page and type the code.
  4. Check the box next to each kid who will use this device.
  5. Choose how switching kids works, in case more than one kid uses it. See Sharing one device between kids.
  6. Tap Sign in this device.

In a few seconds the kid's device opens to their home screen. Your phone says "All set!"

If something goes wrong

  • "That code has expired." Codes last 10 minutes. The kid's screen makes a new one by itself. Scan the new code.
  • You haven't added a kid yet. You'll go to Add a kid first. Then tap Add and set up their device and type the code from the kid's screen.
  • You're asked to sign in. Only a signed-in parent can approve a device. Sign in on your phone, then scan again.

What your kid sees

  • One kid on the device: it opens straight to their home screen.
  • More than one kid: it opens to Who's practicing? Your kid taps their avatar.
  • The home screen shows their points, day streak, answers today, and reviews due. If their leader assigned priority questions, those show at the top. The practice tools are below. See The practice tools, explained.

The device stays signed in until you remove it. It holds a device key, not a password.

Remove a device

  • On the kid's device: open parent mode and tap Remove this device.
  • On your phone: open one of your kids' progress pages. Under Devices, tap Remove.

A removed device goes back to the QR code screen, ready to pair again.
